CANADIAN GP – Hamilton remains master of Montreal after fourth pole
Lewis Hamilton once again out qualified his team-mate to take his sixth pole of the season for the Canadian Grand Prix. The world champion managed to bounce back after being last in the final practice session.
His team-mate Nico Rosberg will start second after he was three tenths of a second off him. Kimi Raikkonen will start third after a difficult session for the Scuderia after Sebastian Vettel could only manage sixteenth place following a hybrid system failure.
Valtteri Bottas will start ahead of the Lotus’s of Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado for Williams. Nico Hulkenberg was seventh for Force India, with Red Bull’s Daniil Kvyat and Daniel Ricciardo will start eight and ninth and Sergio Perez rounds out the top ten.
Both Toro Rosso’s of Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen qualified eleventh and twelfth fastest. However Verstappen will start last after taking a penalty for his crash in Monaco and this allowed him to take a fifth engine engine component.
It was another mixed day for McLaren after Jenson Button was forced to sit out the session because of ERS-related failure towards the end of FP3. Fernando Alonso managed to qualified fourteenth.
