Felipe Massa was sixth backing up the belief that Williams will be better in place following a poor performance in Monaco. Daniil Kvyat was ahead of the Louts of Pastor Maldonado in eightieth and the McLaren of Fernando Alonso and Williams’s Valtteri Bottas.

Fernando Alonso who hasn’t managed to score a point this season was ninth for McLaren ahead of Toro Rosso’s Max Verstappen in tenth.

Practice resumes at 2pm local time (19:00 BST 18:00 GMT) and forecasts suggest it could be hit by rain showers.
