PREVIEW: Sensational Shanghai

Previews Testing & Race Reports

Round three of the 2015 season takes place in Shanghai. The circuit which is located on a swap took eighteen months to build with a  team of 3000 engineers working around the clock.

The layout of the circuit was inspired by the Chinese character shang (上). The circuit has a tight turn one which loops back into a long turn two at three which has made the start difficult and may provide contact. A good exit is key because of a long fast run to turn six. Sector two is a twisty section which is taken at high speed.

Then turns eleven to thirteen provide a long loop to the longest straight in the sport 1170m which is the equivalent to 11 football pitches laid end to end. This will play into the Mercedes because they have the best straight line speed.

Pirelli have brought the white-banded medium compound tyre as the prime selection and the yellow-banded soft compound as the option for this weekend.
