What crisis at McLaren
McLaren say they are not in crisis ahead of the start of the season. The team has been struggling with the new Honda power unit and there driver Fernando Alonso continues to recover from concussion.
Other problems for the Honda engine that the team has been struggling to understand. But Eric Boullier seems not to be panicking even thou many are predicting a difficult season for the team.
At the last test he reassured the media that the lack of running is “going to hurt the development of the car… but we will recover.” The team have already said they do not expect to be fully competitive until at least the start of the European season in Spain, round five of the championship, but they had expected to do more in testing.
Sauber to defended decision
Sauber has confirmed they will fight legal action brought by dumped Dutch driver Giedo van der Garde. Van der Garde claims the team had promised him a seat for this season.
But Sauber has signed Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr to be there race drivers for this season. Today a Swiss tribunal ordered that the ordered the team “to refrain from taking action” to deprive Van der Garde from taking part this season.
Sauber has made no comment on the matter ahead of the hearing on Monday.
Vettel hopes to challenge
Four time world champion Sebastian Vettel has told sponsors that he hopes the team can be strong challengers to Mercedes.
The 27-year old told the event “It depends how strong and dominant Mercedes will start into the season. It is expected that they will be very strong. But for the pack behind them it will be very tense.”
Ferrari has looked strong through testing already.
New FOM Cars
Mercedes has unveiled the new safety and medical cars ahead of the season opener net weeks.
The new safety car was independently developed by Mercedes and is powered by a 510bhp 4.0-litre V8 turbo engine. The GT S accelerates from a standing start to 100km/h in 3.8 seconds and can reach of 310 km/h.
The man who will drive the car Bernd Maylander says “I’m looking forward to the new Mercedes-AMG GT S, which I have been fortunate enough to get to know during its development phase. The new AMG sports car won me over immediately”
